Azadeh Reisdana interviews Sam Gindin on the recent growth of democratic socialism in developing countries and as an ideology which attracts a new younger generation of socialists. They also discuss the expansion of democratic socialism to not only a political theory but also as an economic application. This was recorded online during the Covid lockdown, March 2021.
Azadeh Reisdana was born and raised in Iran. She moved to Canada in 2004 as a political refugee. She is a media correspondent and has worked with many media outlets such as Vice Media. She is a Toronto based film producer, who has worked with a variety of networks and has produced numerous award-winning programs. She works closely with the Revolutionary Workers of Iran (Rahe Kargar) and their TV outlet.
Sam Gindin was research director of the Canadian Auto Workers from 1974–2000. He is co-author (with Leo Panitch) of The Making of Global Capitalism (Verso), and co-author with Leo Panitch and Steve Maher of The Socialist Challenge Today, the expanded and updated American edition (Haymarket).
